Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam launched today
Chiranjeevi the megastar and demi-god of Telugu cinema, has named his party as Prajarajyam or People’s Party.He declared the party name at a massive rally organised in Tirupati, in typical filmi style with a countdown before naming it.
He did not hit out at other political parties, and also did not spell out his ideology though it is obvious he has the interest of the poorest of the poor in his heart.

Punjab University will announce BA/BSc result Today
The Punjab University (PU) will announce its BA/BSc Annual Examinations 2008 result Today (Saturday, 23 August, 2008).
100 copies of the result gazette had been prepared and individuals/institutions could obtain the gazette copy on August 23 after depositing the fee. Earlier, certain segments of the press had reported that the PU results had been leaked in advance. This report has been refuted by Punjab University authorities, who say that the results will be released as scheduled.

Bigg Boss - A great beginning
Bigg Boss is a reality TV programme broadcast in India. It is the Indian version of the Big Brother format, which was first developed by Endemol in the Netherlands.The second series of Bigg Boss will premiere on August 17th, 2008, on new broadcaster Colors.
It was confirmed on August 7th that actress Shilpa Shetty, who previously won the fifth series of Celebrity Big Brother in the United Kingdom, will be the host of this series.

Sixth Pay Commission pay hike will be paid in cash in two installments
6th Pay Commision recommendations has been approved by Union cabinet of India. The recommendations of 6th pay commission will increase the salary of around 5.4 million central government employees. The revised pay scale would be effective from 01/01/2006.The revised hike will hit central budget of FY09 to the tune of 15,717 crore and Railway Budget by 6414 crore. The average hike for central government is around 21%.The sixth Pay Commission pay hike will be paid in cash in two installments- 40% will be paid in FY 2008-2009 and 60% in next financial year.
It would push up the total emoluments of an employee at the lowest level beyond Rs 10,000 per month including allowances.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram said the budget deficit target would be adhered to, despite the implementation of the Pay Commission recommendations.The government for the first time approved Military Service Pay for armed forces personnel, under which officers would get Rs 6,000 over and above their pay per month.
It would push up the total emoluments of an employee at the lowest level beyond Rs 10,000 per month including allowances.

The West Bengal University of Technology (WBUTech) came into existence on August 5, 2000. It started functioning with the assumption of office of the first Vice Chancellor on January 15, 2001 as a sequel to the promulgation of the West Bengal University of Technology Act 2000; under the West Bengal Act XV of 2000 passed by the West Bengal Legislature and published in the Calcutta Gazette (Extraordinary) vide Publication dated july 20, 2000. The Act contemplates a General Council (GC), an Executive Council (EC), an Academic Council (AC), Finance Committee and an Advisory Council as its regulatry and advisory bodies. His Excellency, the Governor of the state of West Bengal would be the ex-officio Chancellor of the University.
Currently, the University is functioning through an Advisory Committee constituted by the Chancellor under the advice of the Government of West Bengal, as per necessary transitory provisions of the Act.
Funded at the initial stages of its formation by the Government of West Bengal, the UTECH is set to become a Centre of Excellence in multidisciplinary science and technology areas of topical importance, in studies and research, in addition to providing adequate facilities for the pursuit of degree and advanced-level course in management, paramedical and other professional areas through its affiliated institutions. The University has been accorded the affiliating University status with its jurisdiction encompassing the entire state of West Bengal.
